On 4thDecember 2015, Manila Water Company, Inc., together with the presence of the JEC-FF Cruz-Kingsford Joint Venture, officially opened the Libingan ng mga Bayani Sewage Treatment Plant (LNMB STP) in an inauguration ceremony.
The formal ceremony was led by the Chairman of the Board of Manila Water, Mr. Fernando Zobel de Ayala, together with Secretary Rogelio Singson of the Department of Public Works and Highways. It was also attended by other government and military officials as well as guests from water utilities in the Southeast Asian Region like Japan, Vietnam and Indonesia.
The plant which is designed to treat 75 million litres of wastewater per day is the first large underground sewage treatment plant in the Philippines located underneath a public park. Utilising an aerobic process treatment through the use of sequencing batch reactors (SBR), it benefits residents from the cities of Makati and Taguig, Metro Manila.
Mr. Wilson Kwong, Chief Executive of JEC, Mr. Penn Yeung, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of JEC and Mr. Guenter Taus, Managing Director of JEC Philippines were also present to witness the momentous occasion.
